Snoqualmie Mountain in Summer - Washington State
The Snoqualmie Mountain hike in the Central Cascades is a challenging adventure with significant elevation gain and rugged terrain. The trail starts steeply through dense forest, with rocks and roots making the path slippery. Hikers will also encounter beautiful waterfalls along a crystal-clear creek. Higher up, the forest thins, revealing glimpses of surrounding peaks and valleys.
On a clear day, the summit rewards hikers with panoramic views, including Mount Rainier, Chair Peak, Kaleetan Peak, Mount Hinman, Mount Stuart and more. Snow Lake shimmers below. Descending is equally tough, needing steady concentration.
Overall, this hike is a rewarding test of endurance and skill, offering breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment.

Crater Lake in the central Cascade Mountains of Washington State is a charming but seldom-visited destination. There is no maintained trail to the lake, and the route was originally constructed by miners and fishermen. Although the lake is just over a mile from the trailhead, route-finding and bushwhacking skills are needed. It is advisable not to wear your best clothing, as it may get torn and...
Green Mountain - North Cascades, Washington State

The historic Green Mountain Lookout is one of Washington's all-time finest hikes. From dense woods to wide-open meadows to panoramic views, it just doesn't get much better than this. The lookout was built in 1933 and used for many years as a fire lookout. In 1987, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Once on top, the views are world-class. Glacier Peak dominates the souther...

Frenchman Coulee is located in central Washington, near the small town of Vantage. It lies within the Columbia River Basalt Group region, formed by successive massive lava flows. Hiking to McClellan Butte near Interstate 90 in the Central Cascades during spring is a rewarding experience. Depending on the snowmelt, you may encounter patches of snow at higher elevations. Nice moderate bushwhacking that takes me back to younger days. It looks like a few boots do make their way up that route. Good to see the Shooting Stars in bloom. Something to make the trip even more fun would have been an unavoidable couple hundred yards of Devil's Club. 😄
